letter from apple recordsThis letter came in February 1969 from Apple Records, requesting a demo tape. The process was triggered by a multi-band show that Mary Jane Bann'd played a few months earlier on a farm near Eldorado Springs, Colorado. There were a number of rumors about various well-known rockers of the time being in the audience and we were given Peter Asher's contact information.

A few weeks after we received this letter, Duck was injured in a car crash and MJB was put on a temporary hold. Unfortunately the demo never was cut.

PostHeaderIcon Band Flyer c. 1969

photocopy ad

MJB always advertised on the cheap. This one was a photo we found some where and marked up with a Magic Marker.

flyer for the Blind Pik

Another on-the-cheap flyer. This one is for a post-Christmas gig at a place called the Blind Pig in Longmont, Colorado. A friend donated her backside to the cause.

PostHeaderIcon Drum Heads

These drum heads were on Jim's double-kick Ludwig drum set and were used into the early 1982 tour. They were retired when Mary Jane Bann'd became The Corrupters in the spring of 1982.

PostHeaderIcon MJB Audiences 1969-72

Some of the following photos were taken at the Denver concert on the very first Earth Day in 1970, others at Boulder shows. Unfortunately we don't have the places or attendees well documented. If you see yourself in one of these photos, or if you can tell us the show we'd appreciate it.

rocky mountain news article

After a chance meeting with a reporter at a record company kickoff on the day the Heart Infiltrator video was completed, Ron was interviewed (right side panel) by the Rocky Mountain News for a 1989 retrospective article on 1969.

Mary Jane's Tidbits

The biggest loss when the stereo, albums, and other stuff got ripped off from the Mary Jane Bann'd house on Goss (or was it Grove) Street was an original copy of the Beatles' Yesterday and Today with the infamous butcher cover. It's out there somewhere with the name Duck written on it in blue Magic Marker.
